A Kentucky newspaper was forced to print this retraction of an earlier article about a resident of the Kentucky Confederate Home:
"'Uncle' Jimmie McLaughlin is not dead at Pewee Valley as reported and published last week. He is alive and in as good health as all the old veterans from Bourbon in the Confederate Home, except J. R. Moreland, who is quite feeble."
